Many Faces of Paris

Every time Paris appears in my view from unexpected perspectives: now it is concentrated in a businesslike manner, then it is romantic, sometimes careless and naughty, or exquisite and refined, then sincere and dramatic.

But each time I’m thrilled on meeting its inhabitants, I try to capture their stories in a shot.

They all exist in one time dimension – people with a happy fate and those deprived of its favor, who are struggling with difficult life circumstances, try to stay afloat.

Here is carousel in the Tuileries Garden. While the mom is resting, the dad with a babt are having fun. The dad with his strong hands gently and cautiously cuddles with the child. Happy childhood.

You would not look indifferently at this photo. Not yet an old woman: a wan eye… Hopelessness is in all her look. How can she help her sick teenage son? It’s a voiceless question there is no answer to.

An organ grinder has started his uncomplicated melody. A cat that shares the hardships of the life of its master. Awkwardness and self-irony in the eyes of the organ grinder (street musician). Behind the facade of a scant entourage is a life abundant in hardship.

And this is a street painter. Short-spoken, wise and talented. So lonely… He will tactfully communicate with you while drawing your portrait.

The old age is always the retribution. The beauty and health slip away… But the unsecured old age is especially hard. Tears of despair in the eyes of an old woman!

Life is still smiling at this man. Nothing and no one has overshadowed the morning. He enjoys every instant of life. And, perhaps, once “…at the sad downhill of life love will flash a farewell smile” at this gentleman…

When a person loves and is loved the whole world belongs to him. Such a person is the wealthiest. This couple in love touches with its sincerity!

Sincerely yours, Olha Krylova
